The Opportunity  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic professional to join The Wheel’s Sector Skills team. This role will support the delivery of the extensive Sector Skills programme provided by The Wheel in service of the community and voluntary sector workforce.    

The post holder will work closely with the wider Sector Skills team and the wider staff team.   

The Purpose of the Role  

This new role will support the Sector Skills team in the implementation and day-to-day administration of the Training Links fund and other Sector Skills programmes, such as The Leadership Academy.  

Duties and Responsibilities  

Main responsibilities and duties: 

Administer the Training Links Fund 

  • Coordinate communications and promotion campaigns associated with the Fund, including maintaining associated webpages. 

  • Coordinate meetings of Training Links Network Coordinators and be the first point of contact for Network Coordinators  

  • Carry out monitoring visits and maintain records of financial and other data 

  • Work closely with the Senior Sector Skills Manager to plan for future rounds of Training Links, including development of programme management, monitoring and evaluation etc. 

Support the Sector Skills Team 

  • Carry out administrative support for programmes of The Leadership Academy (incl. accredited leadership programmes, Breakfast Clubs events, website maintenance etc) 

  • Administration of specific skills-related projects. 

  • Work closely with the Training and Events Officer, plan meetings and events including liaison with venues, catering providers, speakers and attendees 

  • Provide support to in-person meetings and events including registration of attendees, liaising with venue and catering teams etc.  

  • Collate data and feedback as required for monitoring and reporting 

Other 

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all colleagues in The Wheel.   

  • Contribute towards the meeting of income targets, including development of new offerings 

  • Actively protect The Wheel’s integrity through honesty, sincerity and service to its members whilst promoting nationally the benefits of association with The Wheel. 

  • Participate in relevant cross-organisation teams. 

  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Senior Sector Skills Manager from time to time.  

Person Specification   

Desirable Experience  

  • At least two years relevant experience in an administration/coordination role, preferably in a project-focused role.   

  • Practical experience and understanding of working with standard office-based software and office equipment  

  • Experience of a CRM system (Salesforce in particular is desirable but not essential)  

  • Commitment to, and understanding of, working within a community and voluntary organisation in an inclusive manner.  

Desirable Skills:   

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills  

  • Ability to prioritise and manage time according to deadlines  

  • Strong attention to detail  

  • Positive and pro-active approach to role  

  • Good capability with excel spreadsheets and managing details and files that are numerical in focus   

  • Must be capable of working as a team player, be highly motivated, enthusiastic and capable of using their initiative  

  • Good written communication skills  

Behavioural Competencies 

The Wheel uses a Behavioural Competency Framework as a key cornerstone of its performance management processes. The priority behavioural competences identified for this role are:

Terms and Conditions  

This is a full-time permanent position with The Wheel.  

The annual gross salary for this role is between €33,880- €45,837, depending on the knowledge and experience of the person who occupies it, and will be decided accordingly.   

This contract is for a 36-hour week and salary is payable monthly in arrears.   

The Wheel has a salary-band framework and a detailed Remuneration Policy and every employee will be provided with a ‘Total Rewards Statement’ that outlines all of their benefits.

  • A 6% employers contribution to a company contributory pension scheme (subject to a 4% employee contribution)  

  • Annual Leave of 21 days

  • Closure of the office on Good Friday, Christmas Eve and the Christmas / New Year period which comes additional to annual leave entitlement  

  • Death in Service benefit of four times salary
